A lot of your prices say "From £x.xx", can you clarify why this is and why there isn't a single price?
The simple reason is that not all handsets of the same make and model cost the same to unlock.  Our codes are sourced from a large database of servers around the world depending on make, model and network which the handset is locked to.  You may have a Nokia N95 that is locked to Vodafone UK and it will cost a certain price.  However the same phone may be locked to 3G UK and the cost will be different.  This is down to the service provider lock and how difficult it is to calculate the code for that network.

Some handsets (such as Motorola) have a set price because the majority of codes are sourced from one server and therefore costs are the same.  If in doubt you may contact us before placing your order to get a definitive price for unlocking your handset prior to purchase.  Remember the price we quote on our order pages is the cheapest possible price for unlocking handsets of that specific model.  Your price may vary and you will have the opportunity to cancel your order for a refund if there is an extra charge for your handset.

How long until I receive my unlock order?
Please see the order page for the timescales for your particular make and model.  Some handsets can be unlocked within a few hours, some can take several days and in extreme cases a couple of weeks to generate an unlock code.

The reason for the difference is that certain servers will only accept unlock requests at certain intervals during the month.  Blackberry handsets can only be submitted every two weeks for unlocking where as Motorola handsets are usually unlocked within 24 hours.

Is unlocking illegal?
Unlocking a mobile phone to enable it to use another networks SIM card is perfectly legal in the most countries around the world. When a mobile phone is created, it is designed to use any networks SIM card. However your network provider adds a lock to the phone so that you cannot use a competitors network.

You must always check the local laws of your country to verify if unlocking your handset is legal.

Using the Samsung Software I received the response "TAT Mode Failed".  What does this mean?
When you receive the "TAT Mode Failed" message this means that the TAT unlock signal is not reaching your handset.  There are 3 main causes for this which are described below:

  • The most common cause for this error is down to the fact that the cable you are using is not compatible with sending an unlock signal.  On our order page for the unlock software, we ask you to verify that the cable is correct prior to purchase.  Please see our order page to ensure you are using the correct cable.

  • Some new software versions are difficult to get into the "testmode" which establishes contact with your handset.  This is easily solved by clicking the C button on your computer multiple times until the software is ready with "sending bootloader".

  • You may have not selected the correct COM port to send the unlock signal to your handset.  Please download our User Guide (PDF) for the remote software which gives clear instructions on selecting the correct COM port. Please download this PDF file if you are trying to unlock a 3G Samsung handset (i.e. G800)

Does it matter that my phone is locked to a network abroad?
Not at all.  Provided that your handset is locked to a GSM network (digital network) then we can unlock your handset whether it is a UK handset or a Brazilian network. If in doubt, feel free to drop us an email.

Can you unlock any handset from any network?
The majority of handsets, regardless of network can be unlocked.  If for any reason we are unable to offer you a suitable unlock solution for your handset, you will be refunded.

Can you unlock barred/blacklisted handsets?
Unfortunately barred/blacklisted handsets are illegal to be unlocked in the UK and therefore we cannot offer you a service to do so.  However if you have attempted to unlock your handset and the IMEI number has been reset to all zero's (00000000000000) and you simply wish to have the handset reprogrammed to it's original factory given setting, then drop us a message as we may be able to help you.

Please understand that proof of IMEI number will be required, this will be in the form of a sticker printed underneath the battery of the handset as well as the side of the box the handset came in.  We will not under any circumstances set your IMEI number to anything other than it's factory original as this is strictly illegal.

You offered a guarantee to unlock my handset but have emailed me to advise there are no codes. What's going on?
Our guarantee is in relation to when a code generated and is delivered for your handset.  If the server is successful in generating an unlock code for your phone, then we guarantee that the code delivered will unlock your handset.

We cannot and do not guarantee that the server will generate an unlock code for your handset as this may not be possible and is beyond our control.  In the event of this happening we reserve the right to offer you an alternative.

The remote software I bought it not connecting to my phone correctly.  What should I do?
Here are some tips to ensure success when unlocking your handset via remote software (Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Nokia or Blackberry)

  • Ensure that the datacable (USB) you are using is correct for the software.  See the order page for your handset brand for more information.
  • Ensure that the cable is not faulty.
  • Install all drivers for your handset data suite and USB cable.  This will come in the form of a CD-ROM when you purchased your handset.
  • Update the handset firmware to make sure that you are running a compatible handset.
  • Switch off your Anti Virus and Firewall before attempting to unlock your phone.  This is to ensure correct connectivity to the remote unlock server.
  • READ the USER GUIDE carefully for your specific brand of handset.  For Samsung handsets you can find this on our website.  For other brands check the email that was sent to you with your order for your user guide.  Many quieries and troubleshooting can be resolved by reading the guides carefully.
  • Sony Ericsson Software Users should ensure that ActiveSync is turned completely OFF before using the software.
  • Ensure that you are using a machine running Windows XP operating system.  The remote software packages are not compatible with any other operating systems (including Windows Vista).
